  7. Prepare 1/2 milk powder
  8. Take 1/2 cup coconut powder

  12. Take Oil for frying

They are sometimes also called ghughara or karanji. Gujiya is a popular treat during the festivals of Diwali and Holi. Yes, there are so many names for this special treat. And so many ways to spell ghughara- googhra, gughra, googra, ghughra.

Instructions to make Ghughara:
  1. For Filling - In a pan add 2 tablespoon ghee and roast the semolina on medium heat until golden brown. Reduce heat to low and add in the milk and coconut powder and roast for 2 minutes while stirring continuously. Turn gas off and add cardamom powder, nuts and raisins. Add sugar and mix well. Filling is ready.
  2. Method for dough:- - In a bowl add flour, ghee and salt. Mix well and make a soft dough
  3. Roll each ball into a thin round disc with a rolling pin. Place the filling in the center of the round and fold in half moon shape. Apply a little water to the edges and with your thumb and index finger twist the edge and seal. - Deep fry till until is light golden brown.1.
