Traditionally, this is a very spicy recipe as it's meant to be a spicy condiment. However, you can make it milder by using jalapeños or a mixture of jalapeños and birds. A wide variety of chili sambal options are available to you chilli & sambal.
Chilli/Sambal is one of the most favored of recent trending meals on earth. It is simple, it’s fast, it tastes delicious. It’s appreciated by millions every day. Chilli/Sambal is something which I’ve loved my whole life. They’re fine and they look wonderful.
To get started with this recipe, we have to first prepare a few ingredients. You can cook chilli/sambal using 11 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you cook that.
The ingredients needed to make Chilli/Sambal:
- Get 5 garlics
- Take 8 shallots
- Take 1-2 pcs kurau salted fish, chopped thinly (oh ya, pls remove the skin and the bones if there is any)
- Prepare 200 gr big red chillies - washed, stems and seeds removed
- Prepare 10-12 pcs chilli padi. Can use less or more according to ur spicy level - remove the stem, keep the seeds
- Make ready 5 cm blue ginger or galangal, smashed
- Get 3 pcs bay leaves
- Take 1 big ripe tomato, cut to pieces
- Make ready Salt, pepper, sugar, knorr chicken cube to taste
- Get lime juice from half lime (optional)
- Make ready Cooking oil
Sambal oelek exists as one of many sambals. The traditional ulek-ulek is made from stone or from bamboo. The chili paste is made in the ulek-ulek by grinding the ingredients with a kind of pestle. Sambal is a chilli paste which originated in Indonesia hundreds of years ago.
Instructions to make Chilli/Sambal:
- Method - Chop garlics and shallots in food chopper. Set aside
- Chop big chillies and chilli padi in food chopper, set aside.
- Put 3 tbsp cooking oil in frying pan, stir fry chopped garlic and shallots till translucent and fragrant. Add the kurau salted fish, stir fry for another 2 mins.
- Add the rest of the ingredients: chopped chillies, smashed blue ginger, bay leaves, chopped tomato, add little bit water. cook till the chilli & chilli seed soften about 30 mins. Try to flip and stir once in a while to avoid chilli from burning at the bottom. If the chilli still hard and it is too dry, add little bit more water.
- Add salt/sugar/pepper to taste. For me i put one knorr cube and bit sugar, salt and pepper to taste.
- Once chillies cooked, off the heat, squeeze lime juice.
Sambal Oelek is made of chilies with no other additives such as garlic or spices for a more simpler If one is what one eats, I must be partly Sambal Oelek by now. Sambal oelek is available in most grocery stores in the Asian food section, right next to the sriracha. Sambal oelek brings these shrimp and pimiento grits to the next level (the spicy level). Then add sambal belacan paste, chillis, salt and water. Stir to coat well before serving.
