  7. Get 1 tsp coriander powder

Transfer the contents of the kadhai to the pressure cooker. Add a cup of water to the cooker (more if you want a thinner curry.) Lock the lid and cook till the pressure. Kathal Ki Sabji is a spicy and delicious jackfruit curry served as a side dish with rotis or chapatis. The jackfruit is a rich source of many minerals and has a high nutritious value.

Instructions to make Kathal ki sabji/jackfruit curry:
  1. Before proceeding, spread a little oil on your palms. Peel the kathal and chop into 1-1.5 inch pieces.
  2. Heat oil in kadhai and deep fry the kathal and seeds. Drain the excess oil. Take about 2-3 tsp of oil, add sliced onions and fry till it turns golden brown. To this, add chopped tomatoes and fry for another 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add coriander powder, chilli powder, haldi powder and fry for about a minute.
  4. To this, add the fried kathal and mix well and cook. Covered for 15-20 minutes. Turning in between.
  5. Finally add garam masala and serve hot with chapati.

It can be made into curry by sautéing it with some spices such as turmeric, chilli, powder coriander powder and garam. Usually I make kathal biryani or chakka payasam or kathal ki sabji and kathal stir fry with coconut. This time due to the recipe request for a kathal curry, I asked my mom her recipe method.
